Yeah kimochii is a feeling of physical pleasure, like it "feels good". Soaking in a hot tub after a hard day's work, getting a foot massage, scratching a bad itch etc. I've heard any gender say a lot though. The opposite of kimochii would be "itai" meaning, OUCH, pain!, it hurts!, etc. Tanoshii is like you have having fun and excited, an enjoyable experience.

TANOSHII When a person is having fun or is about to have fun or enjoying themselves, I often hear them exclaiming "TANOSHII!". It's important to sound out both of those I's! So now you know how to understand the meaning of HAVING FUN / ENJOYMENT in Japanese! Tanoshii~ Tanoshii~ (Of course there is various ways to say it in speech, but this is just a basic discussion. Feel free to get more detailed!)

This is my favorite site to test my kana knowledge : [Hidden Content] I mainly used the Drag N Drop ones for hiragana (haven't touched much katakana YET). It doesn't have han/dakuten, but it's a great start if you learn quickly by drag and drop. I memorize things very fast this way. I made my own game similar to this because it inspired me so much. Sample pic of what I'm talking about: There's also other useful learning material on this site like flash cards and stroke order help if you are looking to write (but seriously, who even writes that much anymore?).

Every little bit counts! Who knows maybe in the future we can just wear glasses to (ACCURATELY) auto translate a language of our choice, haha! Probably not too far off, hopefully in my lifetime! I still want to learn though, I like to keep my mind active and challenged so I don't get lazy.

Mirai probably has one of the most absolutely cutest and memorable melodic recitation of the hiragana table that I've seen in the 100s of hiragana vids that I've watched. When she sways side to side while reciting, it's so hypnotic! I learned pronunciation very good from this video.

Everyone always tried to press me to learn Spanish, but I have zero interest in Spanish. If I'm gonna learn something, I want it to help me live a more fulfilling life somehow. The first game that made me want to learn Japanese was Fire Emblem 5 on an emulator. I tried so hard to learn everything like hacking the game files. I was so overwhelmed by Japanese AND trying to rom hack, that I had given up for a while. I'd say every year I try again to pick up where I left off. Since I keep a lot of notes, I can easily do so. Some kind of catastrophic event in my life seems to occur that puts me off track though. Still, I'm not giving up! Last year I had the most progress in my life, since I actually manged to learn the Hiragana table (didn't try to write though, no point). I know people can do that in 2 hours or so, for me though, it was a grand achievement since I managed to retain it. I really should jump onto katakana. Finding a new job seems to have killed my learning interests for now though. Either way, I know I can learn and have a path ready to go, I just need to get back on it to play those Japanese games! Anime is translated almost instantly, and manga isn't really enjoyable for me since it's monochrome, so it's all about the games! I do want to be a fan translator at least as a helper, I don't think I'd ever have the time or patience to go it full time though. Another dream of mine is to make Japanese learning games, to help people learn it faster. Trouble is getting enough people to actually let me know their learning styles, create something, and then have them tell me if it helped them learn quickly. Most people seem to focus on criticism that doesn't improve something's core purpose, and simply give negative feedback. I tried with a couple people before, and I got feedback like "the music is too loud, make a volume slider" and avoided answering when I ask, well, did you learn anything? I made the volume slider, got back to them to ask if they learned anything again, but zero response. So yea, I guess that's a another dream on hiatus. Nice to see a new topic! The more people post, the more I'll put time into growing the club because I can get an idea of what people like.

Been watching Gegege no Kitarou 2018 still, and I'm amazed how much it can change its emotional tone from tragic, horrifying, cute, funny, mysterious, etc. every episode! Last ep was so dark and creepy, focusing on karma and "getting what's coming to you". Loved it! I wonder if @RyouBakurachecked it out yet?

NGNL is life, because Jibril. I really didn't like the movie though, it was very slow and I didn't like the end either. I ignored the ecchi part. What really glued me to the anime was the game duels. It was exciting for me. Was much more exciting for me than say, Yu Gi Oh was. The harem did get kinda big later though, and after the movie, it seems heavily implied that I don't know the facts though, I never read any material and only watched the anime.

I always dreamt of being of Japanese game translator, but I know it's tough because the critics can get very tough on translators if they make a mistake or attempt to have it make more sense for American culture. So, I just want to be a fan translator to avoid all that.

I have a problem with having to find a "perfect song" before I can get into studying mood, sometimes. But then I spend almost an hour on Youtube trying to find it and by then I have to do something else..! Then I'm like, well, I'm studying, maybe I should download something to have my computer do something else while I'm studying since I'm not using it for anything but studying. I blame the internet!

[Hidden Content] Been watching Gegege no Kitarou. First time I ever heard of it. Probably one of my favorite anime in years. It has a good mix of humor, fantasy, horror, heart, and adventure. The latest episode (6) was sooo tear jerking. I don't remember the last time an anime made me feel such emotion. Also that main intro theme, so catchy.

Since I'm a combination learner (despite what that silly quiz says, but hey, it was just a discussion starter!), I need VISUALS, SOUNDS, ASSOCIATION, and KINETIC MOVEMENTS (even a mouse click helps), to solidify stuff into my memory. It's a real chore for me to remember things on a computer when I see the Overwatch icon, news tabs, NGR tab, etc. just a few inches away. X_X For example I learned Hiragana by making a minigame for myself (making it myself greatly helps solidify my memory also) matching the kana with a character and click dragging the kana to the correct spot. If I'm right, an audio file plays confirming the kana's name. After that, the random kana will change to one of the other five. (a stroke animation there too, but it's off to the side.) I wanted to do more with katakana and kanji..or maybe different ideas. I've been busy with finding work and other in real life things. Obviously to me now, that kana is "Ru" so I drag it to Rukia's (the girl in the middle, she's from Bleach) location. I can learn things very fast that way. The problem is the time it takes me to create all the assets for the actual project..haha. Anyways that's probably the best way for me to learn- from a video game, since video games have been the core of my life for learning and entertainment as long as I can remember! I even made a mock interview for myself by making a short visual novel, and it helped IMMENSELY with prepping for my last interview.

Nice! You are much further in than I am! Still getting the katakana done with. In fact, I haven't even started learning Katakana very much, I just know a few. As my learning type says, I have trouble sitting down and reading and listening for more than few minutes. I have to literally force myself to not get distracted by other app windows, music, video games...etc. so I usually create ways (like minigames) to find ways to keep my ever waning attention span under control. I tried learning to write kana and had the first few sets down fairly well, but I don't think I ever want to learn how to actually write in Japanese. I barely even write in English at all anymore, so I feel like writing would be a bad usage of my time (that and I have low patience in writing). I think the Children learning style is a good idea. I tried, but those little voices can get really cringey..hahaha. I should try again with that one you mentioned.

Haha. Yeah the quiz was just a starter, I'm sure we know better than anyone. Personally I always thought of myself as a "jack of all" learner ,since I like all of the methods combined most!

I'm curious what is the best way people prefer to learn in our little group. This will help me determine the best learning approach to the group. I like TF2 memes (are these even memes or do they have to be pictures?), though I don't play the game anymore, the memes give me a laugh sometimes. Share more if you have!

Surprisingly the final boss didn't seem hard for me, and I'm notorious for quitting games at final bosses because I never grind. After Nocturne though, I tend to play VERY defensively, relying on de/buffs and status effects, cures, etc. so my damage usually is terrible but I can survive a lot. Persona 5's physical skill sets are mostly a joke, it's all about magic attacks.Hopefully they remove the HP loss mechanic because it's really stupid in my opinion. There is literally no downsides to nukes since the game gives reliable SP regen as long as you build a relationship with the doc lady (and who wouldn't?). Consistently throughout the game I was using nukes only. Ryuji and Yosuke were so unreliable since they kill themselves while attack. I just covered ice/lighting weaknesses (before I discovered how broken despair was lol) and really had no use for them. Without a doubt though I think despair is the most overpowered debuff ever made in any game. Also, what were they thinking when they combined doom+paralysis+mana sap all in one debuff?! Once I got White Rider and fused him with Lamia, the game was literally a cake walk since Despair NEVER misses with despair boost+ailment boost. I didn't even plan it, the game threw it in my face. But that's okay, SMT/Persona taught me to fight dirty because I know their monsters sure will! I suppose I could of made the game harder by purposely not using the skills available to me, but I think in some way I enjoyed getting back at the Personas for giving me a hard time in Persona 3 haha.. I did enjoy P5 immensely however, much more than 4 but not as much as 3 (Aigis's character development was just so good!).

Anyone start watching it yet? [Hidden Content] Episode 1 (courtesy of 9anime, imo the best anime streaming site there is) Looks pretty awesome so far, very VERY close to the video game. It's really nice to see it so beautifully animated.

If I ever am forced to upgrade to Windows 10, I need to keep this in mind!
